『KIDEKIWOHORU』　　　　　　　−木で樹を彫る−

お届けした東京の木・多摩産材の桧。心のこもった記事を掲載して下さいました。木で樹を彫るアーティスト・’’YUKI’’さんです。

The hinoki wood I’ve been waiting for has arrived. This is a Japanese cypress tree “hinoki” over 100 years old that was cut for sustainable forest development. I use the part near the root which is not used as a structural material. The wood has some hard parts, but I am fascinated by the wood grain and texture.

I’m in love with the beauty of their wood grain and am excited about it. A part of the bark was left when they were been lumber manufacturing. The moment I saw the color and texture, I thought I wanted to leave the part.

I am deeply grateful to everyone at Okikura Sawmill for sawing these wonderful hinoki wood.

待ち焦がれていた木材がついに到着しました。これは持続可能な森林育成のために切断されることになった樹齢100年以上のひのきです。構造材などとしては用いられない、根元に近い部分をわたしは使用しています。硬い部分もある木材ですが、木目や質感が魅力的な場合も多くあります。

わたしはそのあまりの木目の美しさに心から惚れ込み、興奮しています。また、製材時に、樹皮の一部を残してくださいました。わたしはその色と質感を見た瞬間、この部分を残して作品の一部に味わいを持たせたいと考えました。

これらの素晴らしい木材を製材してくださった沖倉製材所の皆様にわたしは心の底から感謝しています。
